Our History -EST. 1935

For nearly a century, Lower Falls Wine Co. has served collectors, home cooks, hosts, and professionals who value guidance without pretense. Whether selecting a weekday bottle or something for the cellar, our approach remains unchanged: listen carefully, guide thoughtfully, and sell only what we believe in.

Lower Falls Wine Co. is a third‑generation family-owned fine wine & spirits shop. Selling in the classical European tradition, by hand, we work individually with each customer. Having traveled the wine world for the last forty years, our “boots on the ground” knowledge is simply without comparison. We know the people, we know their wine. Our staff has decades of experience that we are happy to share.

Our Team

PHIL MINERVINO (1987)

After a brief spin in finance, Phil returned to Boston during the years when Americans were discovering wine and dining. He spent time working at Diamond Creek Vineyards before attending culinary school and has since traveled most of the wine‑producing world — including harder‑to‑access regions such as Lebanon and Tasmania. A classicist at heart, his north star remains Bordeaux.

CHRIS MINERVINO (1989)

Captivated by vineyards from his first visit in 1989, Chris sees wine as the intersection of agriculture, history, culture, and gastronomy. Still deeply curious, he continues to visit properties — now numbering in the thousands. Burgundy and Piemonte remain closest to his heart. Don’t get him going on terroir. Stephen Pope (1994)

Drawn away from his restaurant career by his love of fine wine, Stephen has been an essential part of the shop ever since. Often referred to as the “third brother,” his enthusiasm, warmth, and knowledge are the connective tissue of Lower Falls Wine Co. He is happiest conducting tastings for clients — unless he happens to be on the road tasting.
